Greetings From Your Evarts High School Alumni Association
When your alumni organization formed in March 1984, no-one involved had any thought whatsoever that we could still be "going, going and going", 22 years later! Even more remote than that thought was the possibility that the organization would out live Evarts High School. There apparently is no news, at this writing at least, to indicate Evarts High School will not continue through the 2006-2007 school year. However, absent some legal obstacle, it appears the ongoing land and site preparation for the Harlan County High School Consolidation forecasts the untimely demise of our beloved Evarts High School. Those of us who have been frequent visitors to the school over the last 50 years or so, truly lament that the school is "going out" in perhaps is finest physical condition since 1937, when the main building was constructed.
When the last rites are finally given the school building, rest assured that your organization will continue to offer the same support and financial aid to our students, even when and if there is no longer an Evarts High School building to house the spirit and soul of Cloverfork students, as it has since at least 1926. Come "HOME" and visit your Evarts High School, your classmates, former teachers, administrators, friends, and acquaintances from your high school days this LABOR DAY WEEKEND. Bring some of the above along with you!
God bless and keep your Servicemen and women worldwide who are protecting our Freedoms and Liberty's. See you on Labor Day!

CLASS NOTES

The Annual Highsplint, Shields and Ridgeway Reunion will be held Sunday , September3rd. at the Cloverfork Museum at Highsplint. Dinner will be held at 1:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Please bring a covered dish. For more information call Evelyn Philpot at 606-837-3220.
The Ages Reunion to expand hours this year, the Ages School will be open from 2:00 PM on Saturday September 2nd , 2006 so that anyone wishing to can come and visit with old acquaintences/friends. Time goes by so fast on Sunday that people don’t always have time to get around to visiting everyone. There fore, the Saturday hours will allow more time for this and will be for visiting with each other only. The main festivities including food will still take place on Sunday September 3, 2006. These expanded hours will allow those who leave the Evarts High School reunion to stop at Ages spend time visiting and still have time to get back to the high school on Saturday night for the sock hop and other festivities. We will look forward seeing several of you on Saturday September 2, 2006.
The Louellen Reunion will be Sunday, September3rd at 11:00 p.m. at the Louellen Lake.
Disco’ Bill Returns!
By popular demand of our alums Disco’ Bill Peterson, (58) will be handling the “Music & Dance” for the Saturday night festivities. We hope to have a big turnout to welcome him back. As you know Bill puts on a great show.
Once again, the class of 1958 funded the “Earl Rogers” honor scholarship. Any class member wishing to add further funds to the award are encouraged to do so.
The Class of 1947&1946 will be meeting this year Sept. 2nd at 5:00 PM at the Evarts Congregational Church fellowship hall. Food will be catered by Don’s Super Saver. Don’t forget to bring some of your old pictures. If you have any questions call Joan Gilbert at 239-542-9606. Evarts High School will be making a new cookbook this year, Cooking with the Wildcats Book II, if you have a recipe to place in the book please bring it to the reunion to Mrs. Betty Day.
The Class of 1996 will be meeting at the school on Sept. 2, 2006 at 6:00PM. If you have any questions please call Courtney Duff at 573-3182 or Page Howard Lunsford at 312-1070.
The 1st Annual Coach Charles Hunter Scholarship Golf Scramble will be held on Sept. 1st, 2006 at the Harlan Country Club at 8:30AM, entry fee is $60.00 per person for more information please contact Kathy Hunter Guyn at 573-6261 or e-mail at Kathy.guyn@kctcs.edu, please make checks payable to Charles Hunter Scholarship Fund. Payment must be made before the day of the tournament.

We desperately need people to help us work in areas of registration, babysitting, etc. If enough people would volunteer, each could work for 1-2 hours and then go back to enjoying the reunion.
